Changed ​

  • Laravel AI SDK 1.0 — Now requires laravel/ai ^1.0 (and Laravel ^12.0|^13.0). Apps on SDK 0.10/0.11 should stay on Orbit ^1.3.
  • user_id removed from orbit_ai_runs — Runs identify people by participant_type/participant_id only. The CSV export's "User" column became "Participant". Existing installs upgrade via the hand-written migration in the upgrade guide.
  • Steps-based message rendering — The Message Timeline and Trace views read the SDK 1.0 steps and status columns: tool calls render with their inline per-call results, "Awaiting tool approval" derives from status = paused (with the pending call's approval_reason), and failed turns are shown with their error from meta.error.
  • Dual usage formats — Token and cost dashboards aggregate both the SDK's legacy (prompt_tokens/completion_tokens) and current (input_tokens/output_tokens) usage keys, so rows written before and after SDK 1.0 both count.
  • Schema change policy — Orbit now ships create migrations only (matching the SDK's convention); breaking schema changes are documented as hand-written upgrade migrations instead of accumulating in the package. The 1.3 participant migration no longer ships.

  • Classification Observability — Records the SDK's new Classifying/Classified events as classification runs (filterable in Run Explorer).
  • Failed Turn Visibility — SDK 1.0 stores failed turns as messages; the Message Timeline shows them with a "Failed turn" badge and the error message.

Fixed ​

  • Prompt Lab usage read — Slot token totals now read the SDK 1.0 inputTokens/outputTokens properties (previously a hard breakage on SDK 1.0).
  • Budget alerts for SDK 1.0 runs — Budget cost checks read both usage key formats, so SDK 1.0-completed events count towards budgets again.

  • Approval Visibility — Records the SDK's ToolApprovalRequested and ToolApprovalResolved events: runs paused for human-in-the-loop tool approval are marked pending_approval (a new Run Explorer status filter), and paused messages show an approval badge in the Message Timeline via the SDK's approval_state column.

  • Laravel AI SDK Compatibility — Now requires laravel/ai ^0.10|^0.11. Reads the SDK's polymorphic conversation participants (participant_type/participant_id) and the approval_state message column introduced in SDK 0.10.
  • CI Matrix — The test suite now runs against both the highest and lowest dependency sets, covering Laravel 12 and 13 as well as SDK 0.10 and 0.11.

Added ​

  • Failure Observability — Records the SDK's AgentFailed, StepFailed, and ToolFailed events (SDK 0.11+): terminal failures are marked as failed runs instead of lingering in running state, step failures are appended to run traces, and tool invocations record wall time (time_ms).
  • Participant Tracking — orbit_ai_runs gains additive participant_type and participant_id columns (shipped migration with a guarded backfill from user_id). The recorder captures the SDK conversation participant's morph class and key, falling back to the authenticated principal. The legacy user_id column keeps being written and is deprecated — it will be removed in 2.0 (planned for the SDK's stable 1.0 era).

Fixed ​

  • PHPStan — Simplified failover error extraction in AiRunRecorder to match the SDK's widened FailoverableException contract.
  • Test Environment — Tests now define an application encryption key, required by Livewire 4.4 component rendering under Laravel 13.
